Set amidst the lush greenery and coastal air of East Bali, this residential renovation was thoughtfully designed for a young couple seeking calm, clarity, and connection to their surroundings. Drawing inspiration from the site’s rich natural context—where dense forestry meets the ocean—the palette embraces soft, muted hues and honest materials that echo the landscape.

Working within a limited footprint, the design balances practicality and warmth through a refined combination of built-in joinery and carefully selected loose furniture. Existing elements, including dark-stained teak doors and trims, were preserved and reinterpreted as integral features within the overall composition, grounding the home in its original character.

Open shelving and curated displays were introduced to house the clients’ collection of travel memorabilia, allowing personal stories to become part of the spatial experience. A shared appreciation for pottery is woven throughout the home, with handcrafted pieces subtly accenting surfaces and niches.

Understanding the needs of two working professionals, a dedicated study area was designed to be both functional and visually cohesive with the rest of the home. Custom-designed furniture—including a hutch display cabinet, iron side tables, gold-framed mirrors, a slipcover armchair, and a bespoke bed headboard—reflects the clients’ desire for a unique space while celebrating local craftsmanship.

The result is a home that feels grounded, personal, and quietly expressive—an intimate retreat shaped by both its environment and the lives within it.
